When a rapacious American businessman tries to buy Brazilian beachfront property the locals do everything to stop him, including a self-assured woman whom he can’t stop thinking about -- but who wants nothing to do with him.
SYNOPSIS:
REGGIE is a demanding New York businessman in search of beachfront property to buy. He finds a remote Brazilian town with a stunning beach and approaches an empty hammock.
But he is stopped by a weathered old fisherman who cautions him, "The Gringo says if you touch it, you die."
Reggie tries to ignore this warning, but visions of the Gringo haunt him.
His attempts to locate the property's owner are stymied by the fisherman and the locals. This includes LEXIA, a poised paralegal whom Reggie falls for.
But Lexia doesn’t want anything to do with him, thinking that he’s just here to exploit their pristine environment – which he is.
The police fine Reggie all his cash for not declaring on his entry form that he is here on business. But when he tries to pay with his credit cards, he learns that his business partner and his wife have stolen everything from him and fled the US.
Reggie must work his way out of debt while trying to unearth the true story of the Gringo, win the trust of the locals, and the love of Lexia – all before his visa expires, and before his visions of the Gringo drive him completely crazy.
