Every seven years, someone vanishes from the remote market town of Howling. A curse? A killer? A coincidence?

It’s 2001 and debt-ridden private investigator MATT WALKER lands a lucrative contract from a mysterious client to solve the disappearances once and for all.

Aided by Howling’s affable historian DEREK CARTWRIGHT, we follow Matt as he investigates five mysterious disappearances in the town stretching back to the 1960s. As he probes deeper and uncovers anomalies and inconsistencies, he experiences a series of ‘accidents’ which attempt to thwart Matt’s progress at every turn.

Through nostalgia-packed flashbacks, and Matt's 2001 investigation, the audience is invited to piece together the clues to uncover the truth behind the disappearances ... the psychopathic CARMICHAEL family.

They play a sick, high stakes ‘game’ in which they bet how long victims will survive their deadly Games … and without, realising it, Matt is their next contestant.
