Linking a family’s escape from Nazi Germany to a modern murder investigation, a Catskills property hides gold and blood — until the detective who solves it makes a redemptive choice.
SYNOPSIS:
In 1932, Eva Horowitz, one of a pair of twins, is smuggled from Germany to New York and placed in foster care.
Soon afterward, the family’s only possession — two gold bars — is smuggled out of Bremen.
Five years later, their parents and Eva’s twin, Hanna, follow, fleeing to New York and settling on a two-acre plot in the Catskills.
Declining health confines both parents to wheelchairs, while simmering family tensions erupt into macabre murders.
Whodunnit? Who holds the secrets? And who ultimately benefits?
