A brave tailor uses his wit and guile rather than swords and spears to rid the land of menacing giants and gets the king into giving him half his kingdom and his daughter’s hand in marriage. |
SYNOPSIS:
PRINCE KYDUAN and his friend, SIR RODERICK walk through town wearing ineffective disguises, as even the drunkards in the tavern recognize them for who they truly are. Seeing a tavern they know has the best ale and jam, they go in for a drink. Prince Kyduan loves the ale and jam but hates the fact that flies constantly buzz around, annoying all the patrons.
The local tailor, GERARIT, enters the tavern and a loud group of drunks at the next table over from the prince ask him to perform a trick to demonstrate his wit. Up to the challenge, he wagers he can kill seven flies in one blow. Knowing the impossibility of that, all the drunks offer up a shilling to wager. The Prince Kyduan even offers up a shilling as well. Spreading some jam on the table, Gerarit draws seven flies to it and swats them all with his hand in one blow, winning the wager. Walking through town, Kyduan and Roderick see the tailor, and strike up a conversation with him. Learning more about him, they all become friends.
Sometime later, the country is beset by a plague of giants. One giant kidnaps the princes betrothed to marry Kyduan and another destroys a town where Gerarit’s family lives and has been eating local livestock. Using his wits, Gerarit tricks the giant into cutting open his own stomach. But that’s not the end of it, as the giants have dammed up the river, and the country is still in a bad way.
Returning home to see if the KING can spare soldiers for the battle, Gerarit sees Kyduan badly bruised and beaten. The giant that kidnapped the princess has put her in a tower in the sky and 100,000 men couldn’t destroy that giant in his impregnable position. The king offers the hand of the princess and half his kingdom to any man who can kill the giant. Gararit volunteers, but turns down offers of swords and spears, saying the only weapon he needs is his wit.
Gerarit sets off on his quest, but it isn’t easy. On the way, he comes across a two-headed giant who has captured a couple of women in a castle. Tricking the giant, he uses the moat and drawbridge to kill him, releasing the women and enjoying a feast with them afterwards. He tricks another giant into carrying a tree and this impresses the giant so much, he leads Gerarit to the castle of the giant he’s looking for.
An unexpected problem occurs when the sorcerer ELIDORAS arrives, vowing revenge on the country for his banishment. Gerarit, using his wits gets the giant to follow him but falls to his death, landing on Elidoras, killing him as well. Gerarit gains all the treasure from the giant, like the goose that lays the golden eggs and the harp. The princess doesn’t want to marry a humble tailor, however, so the king gives him two more tests, both of which he passes. Relenting, the king awards Gerarit half his kingdom and the hand of his daughter. And they all lived happily ever after.

Sounds interesting, Gregory Barone. What's the tailor's main goal in the story?

Maurice Vaughan one would be, of course, kill the giants, break the damn, kill the sorcerer, and get half the kingdom. Do you read the scripts? as in the scripts I post here?
