A filmmaker is stalked by a former bully and tormentor who believes they are friends. 

SYNOPSIS:

THE BEST FRIEND

Gavin Chambers is a mall employee; he has a girlfriend and is a father figure to her kids. Then one day he finds out his former schoolmate Brady Matthews is a filmmaker and writer and major success, believing that he can get his girlfriend and her kids into a movie premier due to his claims that he and Brady were good friends in school, they are instead turned away. Brady informs his girlfriend Jane Larson that he and Gavin weren’t friends, Gavin was just his tormentor who thinks they are friends is crazy. Gavin thinks Brady has betrayed their friendship, and begins to obsess over him, and starts to secretly stalk him and his girlfriend. Gavin even begins to fantasize about them hanging out, and soon his work at the mall where he works starts to fail, and eventually his employer Bill Wright fires him, and he keeps it secret and continues his stalking, believing that it will regain their friendship Gavin kills a critic for giving Brady’s work a bad review, but is still rejected with Brady threatening a restraining order now viewing him as a potential danger. Gavin even films Brady and Jane in a private moment. When he goes too far and vandalizes Bill’s house the police investigate, Detectives Vincent Lee and Tomas Wyatt learn about Gavin and make him the main suspect.

They soon visit his home, and reveal the situation to his girlfriend, who finally learns of his termination from the mall, and discovers his obsession with Brady. Gavin obtains a gun and goes to a theater showing one of his films and demands he appears and apologizes with Lee and Wyatt’s help Brady outsmarts him, and when he comes out Gavin is arrested on the spot, then Brady punches him in the face for everything he had put him through.

Gavin ends up in prison for life, and Brady and Jane marry, and the prison prevents Gavin from any contact with Brady.
