To keep their daughter from dating a cop's son, a husband and wife set her up with a new romance, with a dark side.
SYNOPSIS:
FEAR AND STALKING
Laura Taylor is the daughter of a social activist John Taylor and his wife Diane Taylor, and while in class she hopes to do a project on Martin Luther King Jr., and instead it is taken by Nate Adamson the son of policeman Peter Adamson and his wife Carol Adamson and comes from a long line of law enforcement. When she confronts him, he admits he does not believe in microaggression or stereotypes and while arguing they end up kissing and begin a relationship, in secret due to her father being critical of the police. Then one day it is revealed, and John is upset and tries to stop the romance and with Diane sets her up with a young man named Lamont Dell.
Laura tries to see Nate when she can, with support from his parents and family, but Lamont often shows up and becomes antagonistic and goes over the line with her, even assaulting her and even Nate. Lamont blames Nate and John takes his side until Diane sees a video made by Nate of Lamont assaulting Laura and Nate and she and Carol do some background checking on Lamont and meet an ex-girlfriend and her family and learn Lamont was a domestic abuser, and the girl broke up with him he began stalking her and they had to file a restraining order against him but his family kept making excuses for him. They even meet other girls who had similar experiences and others who knew Lamont was a bad person.
Finally realizing that Lamont is dangerous Diane decides to let Laura date Nate and try to keep Lamont from her, and even John decides to tolerate it when he learns of Lamont’s past. Lamont then begins to stalk and terrorize the family, and they eventually file a restraining order. When Lamont violates the order he is arrested and bailed out by his family and attempts to kill Nate and Laura they are saved by a member of John’s organization and a cop and Lamont is jailed.
After the danger has passed John speaks of microaggression and apologizes for his past arrogance and is friendlier with Nate and Laura’s relationship.
