A series about an African American Perry Mason/Matlock Esque lawyer based on Byron Stevenson.
I will be honest I haven't seen Parry Mason or Matlock, and I don't know much about legal drama's based on that stuff. But it's an idea I am sure people will like.
SYNOPSIS:
COOPER’S LAW
John Cooper is an African American lawyer and civil activist hired to defend a client named Deshawn Williams whose rights were violated by police and must work with the famous Ordell Pearson whom he finds as an annoyance because he turns many of his cases into a media circus. But does so none the less, he learns Deshawn is a former gangster who turned his life around and was arrested by police officers Hank Lloyd who was shot by Deshawn and many believe it’s personal. John finds out Hank was informed of gang activity surrounding Deshawn and investigates.
John follows a trail and soon learns that the police may have been called and seeks out who called them. John soon learns the call came from Ordell himself and does some investigating on Ordell’s cases and realizes Ordell is a crook: he only won his cases because his opponent Nelson Watters gave him access to his evidence and lost on purpose and would tamper with evidence and witnesses.
At the trail, John exposes Ordell and Nelson and that Deshawn’s rights were violated by his own lawyer and that a crooked lawyer is the same as a crooked police officer. Deshawn gets a settlement from Ordell and Nelson’s firms (at John’s suggestion) as both are jailed.
John returns to his office and learns the police Commissioner is preventing an investigation into his firm by the Bar Association.
