CLONED
By Kevin Hager

GENRE: Action
LOGLINE:

A young man agrees to have himself cloned in new body and discovers a conspiracy. Some things I am aiming for are themes of morality in society, science, identity and acceptance. For example, the hero agrees to be cloned thinking he is doing good, but unintentionally hurts his family, girlfriend, and when he finds out the new body is white betrays his ethnicity and does not realize it until he learns the whole scam but finds redemption in stopping them but as punishment is trapped in another body, which he accepts showing he taking responsibility for his actions, while his family accepts him no matter what he looks like.

SYNOPSIS:

CLONED/REAL

Lamar Johnson is a young African-American man who is going to collage when he learns he has cancer, and is approached by a man named Darius Clinton who offers him a way out, and help the Civil Rights cause, work with a group of hoods to stage a hate crime, and he will be “killed” but will be cloned but the cloned body will be modified to appear different at first he refuses but then accepts and in the plan he is killed in self-defense by Officer Greg Cullen but is actually comatose and his original body dies but then awakens in a new body but is now white. Given the name James Williams he enjoys his life while his family gains financial gains from a civil suit. Lamar begins to feel guilty about deceiving his girlfriend Raina Jones but then decides to ask Clinton about Raina when he learns a terrible truth, that Clinton took bribes from drug lords and human traffickers in order to get corrupt politician Carlton Brooks into office and defund police and border patrol to trafficked drugs and humans without fear.

When Clinton finds out he and Brooks decide to eliminate him, and sends killers led by Frank Lowell after him when he steals a disc, with no choice he goes to Greg and the cops and shows them the disc, and they have a group of hackers and computer experts including Diedra Dallon help in deciphering. Clinton sends them after Raina and the Johnson family and Lamar kidnaps Raina to save her and Frank is killed, while the police officers take the Johnson family into protective custody. The police officers realize what happened, and Greg identifies James as Lamar leaving Raina in shock that Lamar is alive as is his mother Sally and brother Ian, then Lamar reveals the conspiracy.

When another killer shows up they learn it’s Frank and that his memories and personality were uploaded into a clone body and when Lamar and Greg investigate Raina follows and they learn Clinton is John Nichols a geneticist who was declared insane and that he had been cloning his body and emerging in a new body for years. Greg and Lamar have a moment where they gain respect for each other with Lamar apologizing for the set up and Greg for killing him, and Raina begins to accept Lamar’s new body, and they share a moment. Raina is kidnapped and Greg finds out Clinton and Brooks gave him cancer to motivate him.

In their final confrontation Lamar and Greg expose Nichols and Brooks scheme and they are arrested but Nichols tries to escape but Lamar kills him and saves Raina, in the end Lamar’s family accepts it’s him as his mother is relieved to know her son is alive and reconciles with Ian who begins dating Diedra, Greg is promoted and ends up on good terms with the Johnson family and Lamar and Raina reconcile and begin dating again.

Good start, Kevin Hager , but this isn't a logline. Imagine a description of your project in the TV Guide: 1 sentence, maybe two short ones. Boilerplate from Save the Cat! Software puts it like this:

On the verge of a [Stasis = Death moment], [a flawed protagonist] [Breaks Into Two]; but when the [Midpoint] happens, he/she must learn the [Theme Stated], before [All Is Lost].

I'm pretty sure Stage 32 has examples and guidance listed somewhere, if not in member posts, then in educational materials and references.

Do some of you know anyone who would be interested in this?

Morgan Aitken Ipg

Kevin Hager , there may be interested parties, but you will have to pitch it to them in a format they understand and grasp in the first few seconds of you're being face to face with them. The first thing a producer or buyer wants to know is 'what is it about?' That is what the logline does. Kinda like, 'it's about a bloke that wants something and does something to get it.
