Another version of A Christmas Carol which I hope to pitch to Disney, where I envision the characters are modelled and combined after Disney characters and a musical and Scrooge is joined by a teenage housekeeper and her sister. Based on A Christmas Carol: The Musical, a stage musical that inspired a telefilm that I saw. The song God Bless Us Everyone made me cry.
SYNOPSIS:
CHRISTMAS CAROL: MUSICAL
An unseen narrator tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge a heartless man who changed his ways thanks to the spirits of Christmas: It’s Christmas and Ebenezer Scrooge hates Christmas and overworks Bob Cratchit (Prince Phillip, Prince Charming from Snow White and Cinderella), and refuses to visit his nephew Fred and his wife Clara and that night finds he sings about his hatred of Christmas when he finds his housekeeper Fan had brought her sister Emily to work when they encounter the ghost of his former partner Jacob Marley in chains as punishment for his life of greed and that he will be visited by three spirits. The Ghost of Christmas Past arrives and with Fan and Emily joining them, they see Scrooge in his past and his sick sister Sarah and when their family was torn apart by dept. Then they find Scrooge in his first job working for Fezziwig who was more of a father to Scrooge then anyone else, and Belle who was Scrooge’s girlfriend whom he became engaged to, and one day he does a good deed for a baker who he learns was Bob’s father. Then he and Jacob Marley became obsessed with money and business so that Scrooge became cold-hearted, the two refused to visit Fezziwig’s funeral and then Belle ends the engagement and Fan and Emily tell Scrooge she didn’t care about the wealth she only wanted him. Then Bob Cratchit and his family including his wife Anna, tolerates him only because of how he helped Bob’s parents years ago. Then Bob’s youngest son Tiny Tim, who is ill, and Fan told Scrooge that Bob told him about Tim, but he wasn’t listening. Scrooge begins to feel sympathy for Tim as he and Emily learn he might not survive.
Upon returning they meet the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come who shows are dark future, and that Tiny Tim had passed, Fan and Emily’s family had been broken, and many are celebrating the death of a despised man revealed to be Scrooge. Scrooge promises through song to change his ways as many of the spirits appear to Scrooge including his mother and sister who encourage him to love again with Fan and Emily and they return.
Scrooge, Fan and Emily return with Scrooge embracing Christmas and vowing to live a better life singing with Fan and Emily his new revelation and send a turkey to Bob’s family and reconciles with Fred and Clara. Emily hugs Tiny Tim, and the narrator revealed to be a grown-up Emily who reveals that while Scrooge never saw the spirits, he remembered them and kept the morales and lessons they taught him to heart, and Tiny Tim lived and became one of her closest friends.
