SYNOPSIS:

Mary Goldstein’s mother, Nan O’Shea, is a kindly grandma with a checkered past who lives in Mary’s basement. Her life as a child of an addict has scarred Mary in many ways, affecting her relationship with her own family. She always wants more from her daughter Lee, a moody recent college dropout who has moved back home. Her husband Seth, an advertising executive is going through a mid-life crisis, and her son Jonny is a depressed high schooler with suicidal tendencies. When Nan dies, the family goes on a road trip, first to Nan’s small Nebraska hometown to spread some of her ashes on the ball field where her father once played semi-pro baseball, and then to Los Angeles to find a way to spread some of her ashes at Dodger Stadium. Along the way the family members struggle to come to terms with their own demons and learn how to leave their past lives, and Nan, behind.
