SYNOPSIS:

DOLL - Synopsis

The script centers on David Windsor, a man in his mid-thirties, grappling with disturbing psychological issues in a dystopian world where human-like dolls are used to satiate dark desires. Since Dolls were introduced there have been no murders in the city for over 25 years. The story unfolds in a sequence of scenes that highlight David's struggle with his inner demons and his search for help.

The script opens with David routinely preparing his lunch, suggesting an ordinary life. However, as he heads to work, it's clear he's preoccupied, particularly when he fixates on a child playing at a schoolyard, indicating a deeper emotional turmoil.

At the Tyrell Power Station, where David works, the environment is harsh and oppressive. While welding, David experiences a terrifying hallucination filled with violent and disturbing images, hinting at his fragile mental state. This episode results in a severe reprimand from his overbearing boss. Either he buys a Doll or seeks drug therapy to manage his condition.

David visits a drug therapy clinic but, instead of taking the medication, he discards it. He then follows the mysterious child into a series of alleys, leading to an encounter with a frenzied, chained man in a car, which further amplifies David's anxiety and confusion.

Desperate for answers, David visits the Hall of Records to find information about psychiatrists. Since civilization has accepted its darkness they have all but ceased to exist. This journey takes him to Dr. Mainprize's office, a grotesque place filled with dismembered body parts and disturbing medical paraphernalia. Dr. Mainprize, a disillusioned and eccentric figure, dismisses David's plea for help, suggesting instead that David use Dolls to manage his violent urges. This conversation leaves David horrified and in tears, revealing his deep sense of despair and helplessness.

In a moment of weakness, David contemplates the advice and visits a Doll store. The store is a grim marketplace where people select human-like dolls for their perverse needs. Here, David witnesses the dehumanizing treatment of a malfunctioning Doll by store employees, which disgusts him. This encounter underscores the moral decay of the society he lives in and his own struggle to retain his humanity.

The script paints a bleak picture of a man tormented by his own mind, seeking redemption in a world that offers none. It highlights themes of mental illness, societal decay, and the dehumanization inherent in using artificial beings to fulfill dark desires. David's journey through these harrowing experiences reflects his internal battle and the broader moral questions of his society.
