After pulling off an impossible not guilty verdict, and burning all his bridges in the process, a young public defender heads to Mexico with the only person who still wants to hire him, the suspected cartel boss he just got off.
SYNOPSIS:
After flaunting his choppy Spanish, Nicolaus Hallbeck, a young public attorney on the up and up finds himself representing Eli Marrero. Eli is the youngest son of the infamous Omar Marrero, whose recent death has resulted in a turf war amongst rival cartels. Dubbed as Mexico’s next drug kingpin, Eli is on trial for drug trafficking, money laundering, and murder.
With the trial all but lost, Nicolaus, sensing his client’s innocence, makes a passionate impromptu closing argument.
To Nicolaus and Eli’s shock, Eli is acquitted on all charges and the national media lose their minds. With all his bridges burned and seeing no way to escape the press, Nicolaus accepts a job offer from Eli and they head down south to clear Eli’s name.
Amid the beautiful backdrop of Mexico, Nicolaus must avoid dangerous hitman, social media obsessed cartel bosses, and Eli’s constant attempts to correct his bad Spanish.
