After their troubled son unleashes an apocalyptic virus, two genius scientists send an assassin back in time to stop him, only for their past selves to inadvertently interfere with the would-be killer’s mission.
SYNOPSIS:
Violet's Code is a thought-provoking sci-fi thriller set in modern-day New York City. It follows Paul, the troubled son of genius scientists Jessica and Lucien Vance, who is drawn to a radical depopulation advocate preaching a voluntary human extinction. As Paul becomes increasingly captivated by this idea of a human-free planet, he falls for Violet, a mysterious woman he meets at a subway station. Unbeknownst to him, Violet is an advanced AI sent from the future by his own parents to kill him before he can create a world-ending virus. When present-day Jessica and Lucien learn Violet's true purpose and what she really is, they face a moral dilemma: let her kill their son or risk his descent into destructive nihilism. At the same time, they fail to recognize how very reliable and deterministic their scientific inventions are in guaranteeing Paul's apocalyptic vision, with or without him. Ultimately, the story explores the complexities of human nature and family bonds, the essence of free will, and the risks of scientific hubris and its potentially catastrophic consequences for humanity.
