In a world where Christmas spirit is fading, an elf rapper leaves the North Pole to reignite seasonal cheer through his unique holiday hip-hop music, facing skepticism, culture shock, and self-doubt as he prepares for a make-or-break performance that could save or doom the season.
SYNOPSIS:
This is a Christmas musical, a combination of Blues Brothers mixed with 8 Mile, a side of Santa, and a sparkling dash or Purple Rain.
In the realm of the North Pole exists as a hidden magical land, Santa Claus and his elves work tirelessly to maintain the spirit of Christmas. But they face growing challenges as holiday cheer fades in the increasingly cynical and commercialized human world. Among the elves is Robby, a talented and optimistic rapper with a passion for spreading joy through music.
Robby was born half elf on his mama’s side, raised in an elf colony called The North Side, located on the north side, of the south side, of Michigan. Being bi-racial and raised with his dad, Robby is used to the mall and ball games. Robby saves the holidays. And so his next challenge is to inspire people the way he energizes elves.
Robby has to get a job. He has to pay rent like everybody else. He works in a warehouse driving a forklift performing manual labor.
In the human world, Claire, a kind-hearted waitress, and Kyle, a skeptical local rapper who turns out to be Robby’s boss, go about their lives unaware of the magical forces at work to preserve the essence of the holiday season.
CATALYST: Recognizing the need for a fresh approach to revive the Christmas spirit, Santa Claus sends Robby to the human world to spread holiday cheer through his unique musical talents. Accompanied by his friend Bobo, Robby must quickly adapt to life among humans. He seeks opportunities to perform and share his message while navigating the complexities of a world vastly different from the North Pole.
JOURNEY: Robby faces initial skepticism and mockery, particularly from Kyle, as he tries to establish himself as a performer and share his Christmas-themed hip-hop, known as 'Christmas Crunk'. It’s like Eminem spent the holidays at Jazzy Jeff’s. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s serious, but it’s always hip-hop, and always Christmas.
As Robby gains traction with his music, he touches the lives of various communities, performing at children's hospitals and nursing homes, corporate events and other venues, while also developing a romantic connection with Claire.
Robby's growing success is tempered by personal challenges. Work and performances leaves little time for friends. Bobo becomes homesick and eventually returns to the North Pole. Strain in his relationship with Claire pushes him to reevaluate his mission and personal growth.
CONCLUSION: Robby experiences a holiday heartbreak and questions his self worth in society. He’s suddenly challenged to question his confidence. Others are relying on him but he questions himself. Can he reestablish himself as a leader placed on a shortened time-frame?
Robby must prepare for a grand Christmas Eve performance in City Square, supported by his fellow elves who orchestrate a live broadcast to the North Pole. This is not your typical Hallmark movie.
