SYNOPSIS:

Fuck Around and Find Out is a dark comedy about technology, infidelity, marriage, and the terrible decisions people make when their safe suburban lives are threatened.

Rachel Rosner is a frustrated Long Island housewife stuck in a sexless marriage, an old family house, and a life that feels increasingly smaller than the one she imagined for herself. Her husband, Ethan, is a mild-mannered dentist who works too much, avoids conflict, and has become more roommate than lover. Between parenting their young daughter Maya, keeping up appearances, and quietly resenting the routines of suburban married life, Rachel escapes into Tara Incognito, an app for married people looking for affairs.

At first, the app gives Rachel exactly what she’s missing: attention, validation, danger, and the feeling of being wanted. Then she matches with StrongIsland30, a flirty stranger who seems different from the other men on the app. Their connection feels exciting and strangely intimate, until his questions grow more specific and Rachel realizes he knows her husband.

When StrongIsland30 threatens to expose her unless she sleeps with him, Rachel panics. Determined to find out who he is, she creates a fake profile and catfishes him into revealing his identity: Jake, Ethan’s sleazy cousin. Jake is also married, broke, drowning in bad crypto investments, and hiding his own history of affairs from his wife, Malka.

Backed into a corner, Rachel confesses to Ethan. She tells him about the app, the affairs, and Jake’s blackmail. Ethan’s world collapses. The quiet, dependable husband who has spent years swallowing his anger finally snaps. He storms out, confronts Jake, and returns home with him duct-taped and bound in the trunk of his car.

Now Rachel and Ethan have a new problem: Jake is alive, furious, and tied to one of Grandma’s chairs in their garage.

Over the course of one very long fucking day, Rachel and Ethan’s broken marriage becomes a kidnapping-fueled criminal partnership. While trying to keep Jake hidden from their daughter, nosy neighbors, a handyman, Jake’s wife, and Ethan’s grandfather, they also have to confront the wreckage of their own relationship. Rachel is forced to admit that her first confession was only crisis management, not honesty. Ethan is forced to admit that his harmlessness was partly a mask for cowardice, repression, and resentment.

As the situation spirals, Jake tries to manipulate them both, exploiting Ethan’s humiliation and Rachel’s guilt. But Jake has problems of his own. One of his affair partners, Jamilah, has been hunting him down over money he owes her. When Jake’s phone accidentally comes back online at Rachel and Ethan’s house, Jamilah tracks him there, bringing her sons and a whole new level of danger to the Rosners’ front door.

With Jake’s secrets exposed, Rachel and Ethan realize that their only way out may be mutual assured destruction: everyone has something to lose, and no one can afford the truth getting out. But when Jake escapes into the street, still partially taped to the chair, Jamilah and her sons capture him to settle their own score.

By morning, Rachel and Ethan are not fixed. They are not forgiven. But they are awake, alive, and finally looking at each other again. Their marriage has survived infidelity, blackmail, kidnapping, and suburban chaos, but only by becoming something stranger, darker, and maybe more honest than it was before.

Fuck Around and Find Out lives in the space between marital comedy, suburban crime thriller, and full-blown panic. It is a story about the lies people tell to keep their lives intact, the lies they tell to blow them up, and the terrifying moment when they start to look the same.
