An ancient Irish folk tale set in 800 A.D brought to life, as 'Fear Not' set out to learn how to shudder, encountering monsters, vampires, scheming Princesses and Vikings. Comedy/Adventure/Historical/Horror.
SYNOPSIS:
Fear Not is rather foolish and gets into trouble with his Dad when sent to buy tools and is conned into buying a fiddle instead - which he is awful at playing. He tries again the next day and is next conned out of his dads horse and cart - returns only to be thrown out of home.
Fear Not although homeless is determined to better himself and he enlists help from Mr MacKay a tinker (who conned him and feels guilty about it). They go to find a mythical sea monster that is terrorising a village. They set off to find the monster.
As the monster arrives the Tinker runs away but Fear Not defeats the monster by playing awful music on his fiddle.
Now a rising star and hero - Fear Not is managed by his con-man Tinker friend and they gp to see the local King - who has decreed that any who spend 3 nights in a haunted castle and lives will get to claim all the treasure hidden there - and marry a foxy Princess.
We find that the King is scheming and villainous - he has kidnapped the Princess from Wales and plans to forcibly marry her with help from a corrupt Bishop - so their offspring has a claim on the Welsh throne.
Unfortunately for the King the Princess is also villainous, she is out to poison him and escape back to Wales with help from her handmaiden Dee.
Fear Not spends the 1st night at the castle. He encounters a strange pale lady called Ophelia - who ultimately turns out to be a vampire. He unknowingly imprisons her in her coffin before she can kill him, thinking he has helped her find peace.
The King also survives the poison attempt and unknowingly ravishes 'Dee' , thinking she is the Princess.
Fear Not is met by his Tinker friend who is pleased to find him alive - they retire to a nearby inn to prepare for the following night.
The King learns Vikings have landed and is sending messengers back-and-forward, doing deals with their frightening leader ' Haldor The Slayer'. Unknown to the Vikings the King is double-crossing them and arranging for them to be killed by a Master Vampire aka 'fiend' who resides at the haunted castle.
Fear Not spends the 2nd night at the castle - he meets the 'The Fiend' who he challenges to bowling - a new and popular game and beats him - having used tools to make a better ball.
Meanwhile The King drugs the princess with 'Spanish Fly' - hoping to molest her. Unfortunately for him there is a mix-up and Dee takes the Princesses place in the dark.
Fear Not and his Tinker friend learn of the Vikings arrival and spend much of the day drinking, the landlord has vanished - he was acting as spy for the King.
The King is disappointed by The Fiend - for not killing Fear Not or the Vikings for him. There is a new deal between them - to kill the Vikings in exchange for the Princess (a replacement for Ophelia). It seems both the fiend and King are double-dealing.
The Fiend catches Dee and The Princess and locks them in his torture chamber. He is interrupted when Fear Not arrives at the haunted castle for this final night. Fear Not learns that the Fiend has prisoners and helps The Princess and prisoners escape - but is confronted by The Fiend - who has strange powers.
In the confrontation The Tinker arrives to warn of marauding Vikings and is attacked also. Unlike Fear Not the Tinker quakes and pleads for mercy - keeping the Fiend distracted and giving Fear Not the chance to kill the Fiend. The Fiend is strangely happy to die as his eternal suffering is over.
The next day Fear Not meets the King and is granted the Fiends castle, the treasure and the hand of the Princess (who returned to the castle). The King is rather puzzled.
Fear Not arranges the wedding at the castle but they are attacked by Vikings who have been tipped-off by The King - they want the treasure (and the King gets the castle and lands) and kill Fear Not.
The Princess and Fear Nots bride finds herself attracted to Haldor The Slayer, the Viking leader - while Fear Not and other wedding guests are being tormented. Fear Not learns to shudder when he sees his friends being hurt. Despite his own torment Fear Not is jealous of Haldor re The Princess and challenges him, which amuses the Vikings and they accept. During the duel Haldor is blinded by a bomb thrown by a peasant who is out for revenge from one of the Irish villages they raided.
Fear Not defeats the weakened Haldor and a deal is agreed - the Vikings leave him and his castle and found a new settlement with The Princess - who admits she has a thing for big hairy Vikings. Fear Not marries Dee the maid of the Princess instead and lives happily ever after.
