SYNOPSIS:

Murderous Truth - Pilot for series

“Murderous Truth” is a conspiracy thriller series in the vein of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.”

TAYLOR JACKSON is an ex-military, hard-edged, vengeful investigative reporter all rolled into a highly functioning alcoholic. Her methods are questionable, but sometimes you need questionable methods to have your damn questions answered.

Taylor and her friends, Equalizer – her brass knuckles, and Craptop – her rugged military grade laptop, attend a news conference celebrating a massive gun-manufacture settlement. Years of covering similar events has turned her empathy into poisoned frustration. All the clowns are present including the newbie district attorney, her unfaithful head detective and the gun manufacturer’s Gandhi-snake spokesperson, a dog she’d love to put down. She sees one person she respects, her ex-boss and mentor. Disappointed at her quitting the paper, he’ll get her whatever she needs as long as she doesn’t dig into his own skeletons.

Consumed with investigating, Taylor doesn’t notice a hooded, scar-faced stalker.

After drinks with her mentor, Taylor tries to lose herself in a drunken, destructive one-night stand. Despite obvious chemistry, the handsome, kind-hearted stranger refuses to take advantage of her and gently sends her away. He’s disappointed her in the right way. She’d like to see him again and that fact pisses her off.

On a flight to Florida, she comforts a boy afraid of flying. During the same flight she witnesses a mountainous man abusing a sleeping teenaged girl. On the layover, she follows the man into the men’s restroom and beats him unconscious. The Flight attendant, suspecting Taylor’s actions, offers her a bag of ice for her hand and free drinks.

Taylor arrives in Florida. After showing off her fire-arms expertise at a gun-rage (can anyone get her a damn aspirin!) she confronts a congressman at an up-scale golf club. The congressmen would rather lose teeth than answer her questions – one is a dental bill the other is certain death.

The congressman is kidnapped later that day and wakes to find himself shackled and staring down a gun barrel. The game, described by a synthesized voice, is six questions, six bullets. In a deadly question and answer session, lies load bullets until the last question is asked. The mechanized gun fires, silencing the begging man.

Taylor wakes to police banging on the door. She’s arrested for the murder of the congressman. The hooded stranger watches as she’s cuffed.

How far will Taylor go to get the truth? Who is stalking her? Who are the power brokers pulling the strings of government? What really happened to her father? Will she let love in, or burn it down?

Will Taylor ever face her own dark secret?

Taylor Jackson is a strong, complex female protagonist perfectly positioned in this time of women empowerment and desire for societal justice.
