Relationships change when the residents of a small village must set up a point of distribution to decontaminate, feed, house, clothe, and medically care for the hundreds of forced migrants.
SYNOPSIS:
Among the 90 nuclear fission power plants in the United States, eight have experienced meltdowns. It is said, that after a nuclear event, if one can walk away, one will live. This story features both those who walked away and those who welcomed them.
When the meltdown at Magdum Heights Nuclear Power Plant occurs, injury, radiation, loss of family contacts, and the effects of mass migration force people to respond quickly. Two hundred miles from The Plant, a mountain village is overrun by those fleeing radiation. The residents set up a point of distribution to decontaminate, feed, house, clothe, and medically care for the hundreds of forced migrants. As a result, relationships change and new ones form. Natalie comes to accept Thaw as an artist. Thaw, Lem, Martha, and Dody become community leaders. Martha welcomes into her home seven forced migrants. And life goes on.
