I have a question and I don't even know enough to phrase it properly. I have developed a fantasy one-man show titled Friending Geronimo. A humorous/socially significant show--It runs about 70-minutes. My question is: Let's say I decide to put it onto film (video?). How much can I expect to pay to get it onto video for sale on Amazon, for instance. I have the talent--a professional actor who has done TV series. So, let's say filming, editing, sound? etc. ...any comments?
Hello Janelle, If the run-time is only 70 minutes, and in one location (Staged) I would suggest you rehearse off-set, rent a stage and try to sell tickets to your friends and family for the one night showing (two performances), and take the use of local DSLR owner's and operators (Cannon 5D, 7D, T2i or other hand-held) to come and film the live performance which you could use to cut and get the best takes. Two cameras, tape and editing would conservatively be around $600, less the stage rental and promotion. With ticket sales of friends and family you could subsidize the camera rentals, pay for Amazon promotion of the film and even possibly come out on top. I hope this helped.
Oh, Drew! Thank you so much for your response. It makes so much sense! I'm talking it over with partner. I'll be following you because I'm sure you're the type of guy who gets things done! I'm still easily confused about horses and carts. Thanks again!
BECAUSE YOUR STAGE LIGHTING WILL WILL BE VERY FLAT AND YOU WILL NOT HAVE HAVE GOOD CLOSE-UPS I WOULD SHOT THE PIECES. I HAVE SEEN MOVIE STARS SHOW THEIR WORK ON STAGE AND IT LOOKS SO BAD.
