My imdb profile is http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2461912 I am attempting to add my new "in development" project...They're asking for a third party website, a la Variety, THR...etc... Is that the only way? And has anyone added their projects in the stage of development on IMDB? I appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

To add an in development project, you need proof. (Too many people posted non existent credits and imaginary projects.) A proof of purchase of a screenplay, promisary notes, proof of funds raised, etc.

From experience Ivan, it usually is the only way to get an "in development" project on IMDB. Otherwise you have to wait until it is completed and released or shown at a festival before they'll accept it. From memory, a producer friend of mine wanted to add a new feature a few years ago and they simply sourced some local publications who were willing to write about the film so that there was content online that the IMDB team could see when they were cross referencing the details. Google might have some more suggestions. Getting something into Variety might be a little challenging unless it is bigger budget, but you might be able to get an online review style magazine to put something in for you. Just ask nicely :) Hope this helps.

Thank you Rachael and Angela! Very helpful. I wonder if publications that have reviewed some films I've shot would be willing to. I'll give it a try.
