Acting : Aspiring actress on the rise... by Cher Davis

Friends, I am an aspiring actress living in the Jacksonville, Florida area. I appreciate this chance to let me tell you my brief story… Like many, I have sought to find what I am really meant to do in life. There was a time when I would never have thought in a million years about becoming an actress, because I didn’t think that I could. But I came to realize, that at the end of the day, actors and actresses are people just like the rest of us. The difference is, they are highly visible in the public eye, and as such, they often have an amazing power to touch our lives as storytellers. And quite often, all of us humans, entertainers included, sometimes forget that the things that we do and say can influence the lives of many others. When it comes to being a public figure, I feel accountability is key. Personally, I am in a stage of my life where I do my best every day to be a beacon of light to all those around me. When I make others smile and laugh; when I evoke emotion from others or give them a point of view to relate to; when I think about how much I endeavor to entertain people in a positive way –that’s how I know I want to become an actress. Becoming a public figure will allow me to be able to touch the lives of many others in as positive a manner as possible. Through my modeling and acting career, I hope to become a source of inspiration to many people, especially all the girls and women out there who don't yet realize the value of their beauty inside and out. As a black female, I want to help others recognize that beauty comes from a place within each and every person that is deeper than the surface of their skin. The December 2012 Applause Rising Talent Showcase – or ARTS for short – will be a 5-day event in Orlando, FL which will help to jump-start the careers of aspiring individuals like myself. The uniqueness of ARTS is that it is a positive, family-friendly environment – aspects that are too often overlooked in today’s world of entertainment.
