Introduce Yourself : “Lights, Camera, Justice by Sharon Taylor

Sharon Taylor

“Lights, Camera, Justice

Hey y’all! I’m Sharon, building momentum on my scripts and getting closer to my goal of launching a production company focused on bold, impactful storytelling. Excited to be part of a community where stories matter. Here’s to creating with purpose, honoring truth, and telling it like it is.

Daphne Russell

You had me at 'justice.' I am actually in the first week of pitching my screenplay and in some of my hopeful emails that I want to send to 'over 50-actresses' I include the line, "A Literacy Justice Role with Real-World Impact." My super-plan is to use books as product placement in conjunction with my literacy technique in order to show how, when we read introspectively, books save lives. I figure if Chihuahua sales can go up after Legally Blonde then books sales can go up after The Book of Abel. Love seeing someone else on a justice journey! I wish you luck in all you're doing!

Sharon Taylor

Thank you so much, Daphne! I absolutely love your pitch line—“A Literacy Justice Role with Real-World Impact” is powerful and full of purpose. Your concept of using books as product placement to highlight introspective reading as life-saving? Brilliant. That kind of intentional storytelling is exactly what the world needs right now. And you're so right—if movies can influence fashion and dog breeds, they can absolutely influence how we value books and literacy.

The Book of Abel sounds like it has the potential to be both transformative and timeless. I’m cheering you on in your pitching journey, and I hope one of those over-50 actresses sees the vision the way you do. Keep fighting the good fight—justice through art is a revolution in itself!

Let’s stay connected—we need more justice storytellers out here.

Daphne Russell

Thank you, Sharon! Yes! Let's stay connected! Lifting each other is the only way we will all rise!

Maurice Vaughan

Hey, Sharon Taylor. Welcome to the community. Here's a blog that'll help you navigate Stage 32 and connect with creatives and industry professionals: www.stage32.com/blog/how-to-successfully-navigate-the-stage-32-platform-...

Jayme Norrie

Sharon and Daphne, both of you are music to my ears. Popcorn movies, as Reese Witherspoon describes, are entertaining, but stories with visceral reality and justice are exceedingly rare. Recently I saw a trailer of what I thought was a black historical drama, but it was ghouls coming back from the dead in apparently hell. No disrespect, I guess I'm "old school" story enjoyer that loves a good meaning and impactful narrative.

Daphne Russell

Thank you, Jayme! Right!?! It's sooooo possible to entertain and impact! With the extensive reach that the industry can make, why not help us all evolve a bit while we're eating that popcorn? There's so much potential out there. And I just got started pitching with what I have now and I believe it's just a matter of time before someone really understands what could happen to the ENTERTAINMENT industry if we effected the publishing industry and education simultaneously.

Sharon Taylor

Hey Maurice, thank you so much for the warm welcome! I really appreciate you sharing the blog—super helpful as I’m finding my way around the platform. Excited to connect with fellow creatives and be part of this amazing community!

Sharon Taylor

Jayme, I hear you loud and clear—and I’m right there with you. There’s absolutely a place for fun popcorn flicks, but stories rooted in truth, justice, and emotional depth hit differently. They linger. They matter. I’ve seen some of those genre-bending trailers too and had the same reaction—definitely makes you appreciate meaningful storytelling even more. There’s real power in narratives that spark conversation and reflection. Glad to be in the company of fellow storytellers who value that!

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Sharon Taylor. I'm rooting for you to launch your production company and looking forward to staying in touch on Stage 32!
