VoyageMdeia - Good guys or bad?

Hi Everyone! I am looking to work with a company called VoyageMedia and bring my book adaptation to the big screen or TV series. They want me to spend $5000 to bring a producer on board. Has anyone heard of them before? Do they have a good reputation? Help!!

Yasir Ali

Beware of fraud. The writer gives and does not give.

Willem Elzenga

By spending 5k you are the producer.

Carla Saunders

Hmmmmmm

Ronnie Mackintosh

Did they connect with you through Stage32? I was recently 'approached' by a legitimate and respected Production Company through Stage32 who wanted a script. It was when they asked me for cash to 'develop' the script that I realised, correctly, that it was a scam and not the production company at all.

Lindbergh E Hollingsworth

Don't pay one damn dime to bring a producer on board! If you're book is wonderful, the producers/directors/prod companies will come to you, and you sign an agreement in which they will pay you an option or buyout, and then they will pay a screenwriter to adapt. Or you could find a screenwriter, and pay the writer yourself to adapt while keeping the rights to your book.

Tucker Teague

I would begin with the assumption that this is a scam. Second, even if it's "legit," it's a terrible business model that preys upon the hopes of artists. I could be wrong, but I would run away.

Peter Ford Scammy, scammy, scammy. Unless YOU are going to produce it, its not legit to pay an outside party to develop your work. The legitimate way this works is they PAY YOU something for the rights to develop you work into a screenplay and get to produced, within a limited period of time (usually from 6 months to several years).

Thanks to everyone who took the time to help me. Today, I sent an email to Voyager Media severing my contact with them.

Kelechi Onyeka

I really learnt a lot from these responses. I am now better informed about who pays who for a literal work to be adapted into a film. I look forward to hearing your thougths on how to find a good willing producer for my 2 scripts, a feauture action adventure, and a pilot for a crime/action/politics series - all planned for production in Nigeria, Africa.
