Pitch sessions

Need advice on signing up for pitch sessions for my comedy TV series, which I have never done. Should I start with a written pitch session (seems less intimidating) and then do a Skype one? Other tips?

Billy Kwack

I tried pitch sessions, it's good. Definitely be ready for it

HJ Lawrence

Thanks. Written or Skype or both?

Maurice Vaughan

Hi, HJ Lawrence. I feel more comfortable doing written pitches because I ramble and repeat myself sometimes during live pitches. I've gotten better at rambling less and not repeating myself though. But pitching live gives me the opportunity to see the person's reaction and adjust my pitch if I need to, and there's more of a connection with a live pitch. And the person I pitch to can ask questions after the pitch to find out more about my project.

Today's blog is about the Pitch Sessions. www.stage32.com/blog/7-managers-agents-you-dont-want-to-miss-pitching-to...

Thanks, Maurice - Appreciate these tips. For a given project, have you typically done one pitch or several pitches? And if my project is no good, will they tell me, so that I can stop wasting time and $$ on it?

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, HJ Lawrence. I think I've done four written pitches. Two pitches for one script and two pitches for another.

"And if my project is no good, will they tell me, so that I can stop wasting time and $$ on it?" The person you pitch to will tell you what they think of your project, but I suggest doing a Feature Script Read + 30 Minute Talk with an Executive for in-depth feedback (www.stage32.com/scriptservices/coverage/buy?id=19). I've done one, and the feedback helped me turn my script around.

Hi HJ, both, if you send him or her your written pages and talk over the phone, just in case

Mark Deuce

Dive-in HJ Lawrence and do both. Best of Luck!!
