Screenwriting : Would you rather? by Toua Her

Toua Her

Would you rather?

You can only have one or the other: would you rather have your script be a blockbuster or academy winner?

Maurice Vaughan

Blockbuster, Toua Her. I personally don't care about winning awards. I'd rather write a script that becomes a blockbuster and leads to blockbuster script jobs.

Usman Lawal

blockbuster, because that proves to me that my content has been accepted by the majority,.. and that builds confidence.

Billy Kwack

Hi Toua, blockbuster

Banafsheh Esmailzadeh

Blockbuster, hands down.

Anthony McBride

Blockbuster

Marc Serhan

Both, duh! but if I did have to choose, blockbuster.

Sallie Olson

blockbuster

Stephen Folker

Academy.

Toro Macaulay

Blockbuster!!! Not having to think twice about it

Jane Tumminello

Academy

Tennyson Stead

Whether people credit me with financial or critical success doesn't matter much to me - because cold as it sounds, they have no idea what I'm capable of or what I expect of myself. Personally, I try to stay focused on the project in front of me and my own career goals. Having the money and power to make those goals possible is important to me, but I'm not looking for any particular form of acclaim.

Arezoo Khanjani

Ideally, it would have both aspects, like Asghar Farhadi's films, but if I had to choose, the Academy would be more valuable to me.

Jim Boston

Toua, I'd rather come up with an Academy Award winner...but really, as long as the project gets produced, I'm happy with that.

Nikhil Chohan

Academy Award Winners, for sure

Patrick "PK" Koepke

Blockbuster. I remember all of those, but not all the Academy best screenplays/pictures.

Nicholas P

Script be a blockbuster

Philip David Lee

Blockbuster. I'm not here to win awards. I'm here to entertain the movie going public. If a film of mine is a blockbuster, that means I did my job. The Oscars are meaningless. They've become as useless as film festival awards.

Jon Shallit

Blockbuster means you will get work forever. Prize/awards are for horse races.

Tucker Teague

I would love to win an Oscar and, perhaps even more, a Palme d'Or, but a blockbuster would likely pay the bills for the rest of my life... and I could live with that.

Sam Rivera

The ideal answer is both, but realistically an oscar would be the honor!

Georgette Skolnick

Academy winner, because then it'll become a blockbuster with everyone wanting to view it.

John C. Bounds

Blockbuster
