I have a promoter who likes my TV script. He says that I can get paid $5k and get no writer credit. Or I can $2.7K but it goes to audition and I get full writer credit. The money is to make a reel. Is this standard practice?

Kick him to the curb. You own it, you wrote it, so you get credit. No exceptions. If you want to make a reel , seek out local filmmakers, it’ll cost less without the b.s.

If you're just getting started out - and it's money...what do you have to lose? Make the money and write another script.
