Your Stage : The Black Honky by Nick Walsh

Nick Walsh

The Black Honky

Hi, Everybody!

I received this post after placing my screenplay on InkTip: "Although we believe you have good intentions by writing this script, we felt upon reading it that the script needs a BIPOC sensitivity reader to provide detailed coverage. InkTip reserves the right to remove any listing." I didn't know that. I thought it was the producer's role--that I've subscribed to InkTip to connect with--to accept or pass on this script, no matter the content or how well written, not the the decision of the site I'm paying over thirty dollars a month to post my screenplays. [NOTE: Stage32 doesn't do this.]

This script is a graphic satire on racism. It is a tragi-comedy, and it is meant to elevate our awareness of racism in an exaggerated (maybe not), sometimes horrifying, but elucidating way.

The script is on this site under Loglines in my Profile if anybody would like to read it and give me your take on it.

Thank you,

Nick Walsh

I think your script might really offend someone. for example, white people.

Nick Walsh

Thanks for your interesting comment. InkTip thought it might somehow offend black people. Did you read it?

Arthur Charpentier

You suggest portraying blackface in the script. The platform probably wants to protect itself from scandal.

Why I am no longer with Stinktip Nick Walsh Something is not right on that site...

Nick Walsh

It's not blackface. I encourage you to read it and judge for yourself.
