Sepsis isn’t sexy. You’re asking the audience to engage with the love story, while at the same time imagine the smell of rotting flesh.
Sounds like your main character will spend a lot of the movie in bed, which is tough to keep engaging.
Why can’t the cop tell Beauty the truth? What are the stakes? Why is she the one to nurse him? Why does she decide to do that for a new co-worker she barely knows?

Sorry if my post came across as blunt. I’m not saying the story won’t work, just that there are some writing challenges. My last string of questions would be good to address in the plot description.
