Welcome to the community, Kay Gossage-Longo. How's your TV series coming along?

Kay Gossage-Longo

Hi Maurice Vaughn - it is coming along well. I have torn the Pilot apart a few times and it is almost completed. bible is done and my Pitch Deck is created - still needs a few tweaks - getting there.

Maurice Vaughan

"I have torn the Pilot apart a few times." I relate, Kay Gossage-Longo. Haha It sounds like you're almost ready to pitch!

Welcome to the community! What are you currently working on Kay?

Kay Gossage-Longo

Maurice Vaughn - almost! I need to send it all to proofreading - waiting on Pilot so it can all go in at one time - easier - soon!

Ben Henning

Nice to meet you, Kay! That's exciting that you're working on a TV series. Say, what's in a pitch deck? Is there a basic standard?

Kay Gossage-Longo

Ben Henning - Hi - on the Pitch Deck. No I do not think there is a standard but I know you needs basic info - summary - genre, TV or Move, Budget, synopsis, main characters, production info - how long is script, cast, locations to shoot, target audience MAYBE marketing and distribution plan, any competition/comparisons, your contact info of course... I am NOT the expert on it at all!!!

Ben Henning

Kay Gossage-Longo good stuff. I have an original pilot script but I've never created a pitch deck before, so that sounds like a good next step for me! Though I don't know the first thing about practicalities like locations or budgets LOL. Still, I can get started on something basic.

Kay Gossage-Longo

Ben Henning - I went to storydoc.com - it had a tone of templates and examples which made it easy!! I did not have all of the info either so I put TBD - can be tweaked later a lot quicker than creating the entire thing at the last second - yes I got mine going so I have it mostly done - I found places that would do for you but I have a control issues (LOL) and enjoyed doing it myself. Took some time but I enjoyed it - all part of the process to me - plus no one knows the story better than you... GOOD LUCK!

Ben Henning

Kay Gossage-Longo totally. I think it's good to try one's own hand at these things to get some experience and skills. Never know when it'll come in handy. I also plan to try creating some storyboards for my pilot. Again, not entirely necessary, but having it on hand and having the skills can't be a bad thing.

Thanks for the website resource!

Maurice Vaughan

Kay is right about the basic info and the production info that go in a pitch deck, Ben Henning, but you usually only need to include the filming locations and marketing/distribution plan if you're producing the project yourself or looking for funding. You usually don't need those things if you're just pitching your project as a writer.
