Hello to everyone,
Working on a light comedy scene!
Would you agree that comedy is one of the most difficult genres to score? To help people laugh through music beside the scene?

Interesting, George Ioannidis . What's the scene about? I would love to hear how you scored it and what was your approach ;)

It absolutely can be but can also be such a great opportunity. I think about the score to the original In-Laws and I laugh. Would love to see what you worked on and how you approached it.

I'm glad to hear you're doing something for TV. I've always thought that would be a fun gig. Seems like it'd be fast paced and deadlines. I haven't done much media work in the past few months. I've been busy doing arrangements for a Christmas show. Good size ensemble and I'm a sucker for Xmas tunes. Just finished It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year and now on to the next one. When I was writing the chart and had to enter the composer's name. I didn't know him. I google him and turns out he also wrote the theme for Gilligan's Island. Who knew?... How'd you like that ASCAP? :)

George Ioannidis What...the It's The most Wonderful Time score...? I can do it, but it's just Sibelius playing back and really stiff, but you can see what I did with the tune. Want it here?

George Ioannidis Here ya go. This thing sound so stiff but you composers know what we’re dealing with here, others may not. This is just notation playing back, no humans involved, and the input was all point and click, no performance keyboard chops so it just is what it is. Hard quantized sterile notes with little dynamics. I’m sure there will be a couple of changes between now and 12/25, but this gets the ball rollin’. I wonder if there’s a law against Sibelius playing a Mini Moog. Lol
Anyway, on stage will be 2 keyboards, 2 guitars, bass, drums, several guy/girl singers. I’ve got Sibelius hitting Omnisphere here doing Dohs so the singers will have a ref as to what notes I want them to sing. They don’t read. So please bare with it and try to imagine good musicians playing this with a smokin’ jazz pianist and drummer. There will be a few live string players, but I’ll have tracks in the house supporting them along with some vocals that will fly in so the choir sounds good and in tune. It’s showbiz, baby. :)
