Screenwriting : Story by Lalit Sabherwal

Lalit Sabherwal

Story

What makes you to write something ?

Why your hand starts moving ?

Do you have a story ?

Are you searching for a story ?

Why do you want to tell a story ?

So good a life, it should be a story.

There is nothing,

All I can do is make up a story.

Why it should be story ?

Every face is story.

Don't look for a story.

Live without a story.

Then what about my story ?

Nobody wants your story.

Story ! Story ! Story !

If I don't stop, I will become a story.

Geoff Hall

Lalit Sabherwal it’s not a bad thing to be one of your stories. People write autobiographies, why not screenwriters?

What makes me write something? Compulsion. I cannot stop writing in some shape or other. Once I have a pen in my hand, there is no one stopping me. If I can’t find a pen, it’s a conspiracy to silence me!

Do I have a story? Always. I’m always writing a story or planning and sketching one, or assessing whether what I think is a story, really is one. Or is it just a bright idea? Or maybe it’s ‘just’ a poem and not a novel or a screenplay.

Nobody wants my story. Then I will think less of them, or perhaps see that the story isn’t for them?

But NOBODY wants my story. Then I need to walk a few more miles to find the right person or community that will embrace me.

But at the end of the day I will always write…

Now, where is that pen?

Lalit Sabherwal

Geoff Hall Thankyou, Exactly the response I was looking for.

Geoff Hall

Hi Lalit Sabherwal thanks for connecting with me. How are you doing?

Amman Mohammed

Story, I didn't understand you. ; )

Shellie Schmals

Lalit - what a beautiful word play of deep questions and reflection. Stories are as individual as the people who write them, and stories exist outside ourselves for others to consume. Stories create energy, movement, connection and are essential to life.

Lalit Sabherwal

Geoff Hall I am doing great. Its good to be in touch.

Lalit Sabherwal

Shellie Schmals Thank you.

Amman Mohammed

Stories or Story writing means diverse things to divers people. For some, it could mean 'therapy. For others, it means an incantation. A curse. Or a spell cast on some future. In the latter case, story writing then becomes a serious exercise in projecting power.

David Kleve

I like to go down, What if? trails. I have a story about an alien brain therapeutic device that human Xenoarcheologists find and accidentally activate, with bad results. Everyone finds their own inspiration. I wish you success.

Matthew Gross

I'm just a tool for my muse. It happens without warning. The only thing I can control, or rather feel in control of, is the place where writing happens. My dream drives me, and that dream is living in a beautiful mountain community (like Crestline or Big Bear, California) in a cozy hideaway home with a perfect writer's den. From there I can email pages or have Zoom meetings with studio execs. My muse writes and I live.

Geoff Hall

Matthew! Nice one., It sounds ideal. I’m a Brit, so I’ve not heard of those communities before. Will have to check them out.

Maurice Vaughan

It's nice to meet you, Lalit Sabherwal. Great poetic-like post! "Why do you want to tell a story? There are a few reasons why I write/tell a story. One of the reasons is: It's exciting to write a script, have someone (actually a whole team) make it, then watch it onscreen.

Maurice Vaughan

I also do that, David. Go down "What if?" trails. I do that with ideas, scenes, characters, etc.

David Kleve

I find, it helps bring characters to life, in my mind, if you show how they react to specific situations.

Lalit Sabherwal

Dan MaxXx The plan is to finish the script first.

Lalit Sabherwal

Maurice Vaughan Ah ! That's a good spirit.

Lalit Sabherwal

David Kleve Thank you David.

Lalit Sabherwal

Matthew Gross I believe it is inspiration from within then.

Lalit Sabherwal

Amman Mohammed I agree with your point till therapy but I need more context for later part.

Amman Mohammed

Lalit Sabherwal There's a 1hr video about a screenwriter: It's called "The Mindscape of Alan Moore." When you said "Story, Story, Story" so many times, it sounded like a spell and reminded me of Alan Moore - famous for WATCHMEN, and more. That's the context.

Amman Mohammed

If your story makes them ascend, they will want your story.

Debbie Croysdale

Writing and story world formation is my main driving force and I simply cannot ignore it. If absent from it for too long reality makes me scream get me out of here.

Geoff Hall

Debbie I know exactly what you mean!
