Introduce Yourself : It's a Long Way to the Top if you Wanna Rock n Roll ! by Richard Harrison

Richard Harrison

It's a Long Way to the Top if you Wanna Rock n Roll !

Hi everyone, London based, six award wins for Directing & Scriptwriting, and nine international nominations and one cult-feature film hit as Director, Producer & Co-writer which has become an underground world wide phenomenon, AND I HAVE STILL HAVE NOT broken into the film industry! As Churchill said when he was asked how he steered Britain to win World War 2, "Never give up!"

Geoff Hall

Richard Harrison Hi Richard, welcome to Stage 32. I live in Bristol, UK so not far from you. Yes, "Never give up" is a good lesson to learn, even if Churchill said it! I suppose he epitomised a man who knew what he wanted and how to get it. Even if it was in the realm of warfare. Well done on all your success.

Richard Harrison

Thanks Geoff and nice to meet you! What are you up to? Do you have anything in development or anything you're working on or pitching? Rich

Geoff Hall

Richard Harrison Hi Richard, yes I'm busy researching and writing an epic mythological story, set in the 4th Century CE and also prepping for an Exec to look at my Pitch Deck for a TV Spec Script, which is like Millennium meets the X-Files.

Maurice Vaughan

How's it been, Richard Harrison? Great to see you again, buddy.

Richard Harrison

Hey Maurice, good to hear from you. No bites my end, quite frustrating! How about you? Hope there's some sparks igniting?

Rutger Oosterhoff

Churchill in his speech to Richard and the rest of the free world:

Never give up! And after taking a puff of his "La Aroma de Cuba, he continues with "Ah, I predict: This is not the end, it's not even the beginning of the end, but it is perhaps the end of the beginning...

of the end -puff- and after we've won many wars, the end of Hollywood's domination and the beginning of the beginning of a powerful European film industry force ready to free the world... and in a never ending dramedy...

...The Netherlands asking for passage after the ship already left the harbour!

The film industry is so complicated! I'm all confused, where does it begin, and where does it end,

Could there be a somewhere -in between- Hollywood and the Netherlands -- could it be Stage 32 that makes us international artists of varied plumage feel like Al(l)-ice in Wonderland hm, I ponder... I wonder... how not to slide down the rabbit hole and end as Al(l)-ice in Borderland?!

"And" -- No, just kidding!

Richard, let many of your razor sharp films see the light.

Cheers, and godspeed!

Claudio Torres

Hi Richard Harrison, First of all, congrats on your achievements. Enjoy the journey. For sure, sometime in the future, you will succeed. Just don't give up before that.

Geoff Hall

Rutger Oosterhoff There’s a rabbit hole? I’ve missed out on the rabbit hole experience? Is it a must-have for screenwriters? Although, Borderland sounds interesting, more realistic at the moment, than say Wonderland!

Rutger Oosterhoff

"The Rabbit Hole' here means that you don't want to go from Alice in Wonderland to Alice in Borderland Geoff.

Also Alice in Borderland is an ok Japanese tv series, but for me it sometimes feels that you must be close to Borderland to continue to persue your film industry dreams, whatever they may be..

Borderline, feels like I'm going to lose my mind...No Madonna, these times you can't say that anymore, you just can't-no-no, not anymore! Oh hi Mark!... did you see "Down the Rabbit Hole" ?

Mark: "What the Bleeb?!"

Geoff Hall

Rutger Oosterhoff Yeah, I got the allusion. I was just playing with it.

Maurice Vaughan

I'm doing fine, Richard Harrison. Yeah, I have some sparks. I'm rewriting a short script with a writer/director, pitching scripts, and waiting to start some jobs. Hope you get some bites on your projects.

Richard Harrison

Thank you, Rutger, great words and pleased to meet you! Richard

Richard Harrison

Wishing you all the best, Maurice and nice to hear from you. Thanks for asking brother. Good things will come your way!

Richard Harrison

Thanks Claudio, really nice to meet you. Wishing you all the best too, Richard

Rachel Walker

Congratulations!! You have many successes and more to come! Rachel www.rachelwalkertrio.com

Richard Harrison

Thank you, Rachel. It does seem mad. My first micro-budget, feature film THE HONEY KILLER has become the most pirated and watched film on the internet, it's huge!!!! Four years after it was released on Amazon Prime it's spiking again and I am getting more fan mail than I've ever had. I've written about it on here before. BUT I can't get one film industry professional to recognise it and talk to me about a remake, sequel and TV series. It's almost like, 'They only want to know about things they already know about!' I'll keep plugging. Wishing you the best of luck too. Richard

Claudio Torres

Richard Harrison Just a thought on that. Did you try to leverage this fan base? Via social media, mech, and crowdfunding?

Richard Harrison

Ah no! But if I can get a funded remake with 'name actors' then there is a world wide audience already there to capitalise on it. It needs one decent producer with a track record or a mini-major like Lionsgate and it's away. It's strange, the Facebook page hasn't been updated since 2019 and it's getting between 10-100 likes a night, every night of the week from around the world. Iraq, India, UK, America, Italy. The two most recent fan mail letters (emails) from people who have tracked me down in person have been from Spain and Kentucky. It's a very flawed film with amateur actors too. It's bizarre it's become this huge cult movie! I'm amazed. Ping me an email and I'll send you a secure link to watch it of you wish, so you don't have to pay on Amazon or catch spam watching it on one of the illegal sites. There's illegal posters, DVD covers, the soundtrack is being shared, there's a whole cottage industry built up from this no-budget film that I have loads of issues with that for some reason has caught on like wildfire. It's beyond me and beyond me why no one established in the industry has picked up on it yet.

Maurice Vaughan

Claudio Torres has a great idea, Richard Harrison.

Also, Richard Harrison, have you tried to pitch your projects other places (different producers, production companies, etc.)?

Richard Harrison

Everywhere mate. I bought pitches off Stage 32 from the pitch section, nada! Tried talking to Producers in LA, the UK, Hollywood, Spain......they all look at me as if I'm lying or making something up. There hasn't been ONE PERSON who has listened........listen man. I've been pitching this film remake ever since it kicked off in 2019. It's spiking again right now in 2022. There isn't one angle I haven't tried. It's a shame some of the 'established Producers' who promote themselves on Stage 32 don't read these columns.

Maurice Vaughan

Ok, Richard Harrison. I would definitely take Claudio Torres' advice. And keep pitching. There could be a "yes" out there.

L. Tom Deaver

The Entertainment Industry is NOT something you break into. Rather, it is an onion. You peel layers away as you approach the core of it. Sometimes the layers are bitter. Sometimes sweet. May you one day be at the heart of the onion. It sounds like you are on the right path - never give up.
