Introduce Yourself : Hi, I'm Amanda. by Amanda Toney

Amanda Toney

Hi, I'm Amanda.

Hi everyone, I'm accepting Richard "RB" Botto's Introduce Yourself Weekend challenge and updated my profile. I've invited 47 new people I've met over the last couple weeks to join the community and now I wanted to introduce myself! I'm the Managing Director here at Stage 32 and work day to day with our incredible team - RB, Jason, Harrison, Taylor, Kay, Angela, Nick and Aimee. I've had the honor of seeing this community grow from 100 people to now nearly 750,000 and have gotten to know a great deal of you over the years. You fuel us to keep doing what we're doing - democratizing the entertainment industry. We LOVE hearing your successes every week that come from Stage 32.

I am also a producer in film, TV and shorts. Currently I'm out pitching a TV show with the creator and we attached a seasoned showrunner we've built a relationship with for the past 7 years. There are so many ups and downs in the process and it's great to have this community to keep me motivated and going because getting the "Nos" always suck. But...I know that that "yes" is out there, we just have to work hard and find it! I've learned that even having an A-list showrunner doesn't guarantee that your project is getting made. I also just sold a TV show to a major US network and we shot the presentation during covid, which is currently under review. I was on the producing team for WHAT LIES AHEAD with Rumer Willis and Emma Dumont and helped incubate CHICK FIGHT starring Malin Akerman, Bella Thorne and Alec Baldwin.

I love reading about all of you and what you are working on, so keep creating!

Haha! I laughed when I read that you work at Stage 32 and are taking the challenge. I guess the challenge isn't just for newbies, like me. I also laughed when I read "getting the 'Nos' always suck." I just told someone, today, that I'm finally ready to show my screenplay to people so I can either hear one of two things: either "This is terrible. Kick rocks." or, "This is Amazing! Let's film this!" Either one will do. At least it will give me some sense of direction. :)

I'm excited about all the possibilities being a member of Stage 32 might present!

Hi Amanda, Great meeting you! I'm loving all the information, webinars, connection and creativity you're sharing with this artistic community, especially during this time. I LOVED the Netflix pitching webinar with Chris Mack thank you for your generosity and sharing-it was so helpful. Have a great weekend! Jacqueline

Nice to meet you Vanessa Beran Jacqueline Murphy and Sean O'Connor! Thank you for the kind words. Yeah, we kick ourselves in the butt here, too, it's a constant evolution and learning process for everyone. I like to say "rising tides lift all boats" so as soon as we learn something new, we're sharing it with the Stage 32 family. We're all in this together - the highs, the lows and the in betweens. And there's never a day that the "no's" don't sting, but every piece of feedback you get helps inform the next decision you make with a project. Knowledge and feedback is power. We all just need to keep going!
