In “The Origin of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” Rubatino provides evidence to show the maps found in the Oz books, 40 of them in all, were derived from drawing blueprints taken from the text of a King James Version Bible dating from around 1611. Ozma is transposed from the character, the Mother Heavenly Jerusalem, she appears in later books so only those that have read the series are familiar with her character.
