I got to thinking about the summer (1976) I spent on the road all over Central Iowa to help a truck driver deliver pop for a local soft-drink bottler. That experience ended up becoming a half-hour sitcom pilot I wrote for a screenwriting class I took three years later at Iowa State University. That script was called "Long Way..." and it involved a pair of newcomers to driving for a soft-drink bottler. Not long after I joined Stage 32 (January 2019), another member (Cannon Rosenau) encouraged me to revisit "Long Way." Now...it's a feature-length script where the granddaughters of those two truckers I wrote about in 1979 want to drive big rigs, too. (Currently, one granddaughter's a food server; the other is an office worker. And they're annoyed with those two gigs.) Well...here's the ScreenplayIQ video to prove it. (Thanks for the inspiration, Cannon!)
