“Who U Kiddin?”, was based on characters that he has known in Philly yet portrayed by South Africans. His goal is to make light of the cultural differences that can separate us and also to show addicts in recovery as they aspire towards growth which is something we are universally striving towards. Addiction is not funny. But we can learn to laugh at each other, with each other. We get to see boys becoming men as they navigate their way through the absurdities of daily life. The positive messages are subtly there but take a back seat to the comedic dialogue and the implausible situations they encounter. Eric;s goal is to create original South African programming with global appeal. According to Eric, “I want to hear a college kid at a New York City coffee shop say, ‘Hey, did you see that funny show from South Africa last night?’ The director describes his time at AFDA as some of the most gratifying years of his life.
