More akin to a Symphonic Poem than a traditional Symphony, this work depicts the the cognitive dissonance that forms a part of all of our lives: The conflicts we face at work, at home, in the world generally – those things that are a part of 21st Century living. Not all conflicts have to be large – and conflict does not make up our whole lives. There are parts of the work where joy, love and contentment shine through; those times when positivity and creativity dominate our psyche. We are taken on a journey through modern life: The hustle and bustle of metropolitan living to moments of calm in the countryside. Work, play, travel, the relentless chatter of social media and relaxation all play important parts in modern living – here we have them all. Melodies, relentless rhythm, periods of calm and soaring statements of action leave the listener with the impressions of the world as it is now in 2017. This version is played by a virtual orchestra (so apologies if the Piano is not played with feeling – the ‘bot does not have Human interpretations skills). So, a message for all orchestras: Take up the challenge and put on a performance of this great work!
