The film marketing or release campaign that stuck with me.

The campaign that stuck with me then and now was when Francis Ford Coppola championed Abel Gance’s 1927 silent masterpiece, Napoleon. The size, scope, silent beauty and stunning massiveness of the film struck a deep chord. Full orchestra, massive screen to accommodate three projectors running in tandem during the finale, a cast of thousands, extreme and daring camera work and an internal Napoleonic theme as big as the screen itself. That and more is what still makes the release campaign work for me now as it did back in 1981.
