I admit I haven't visited a library in over a decade. It's been hard to concentrate on reading a book when I've been focused on writing them and publishing them. But I'm done with that. My final, 20th book, which I produced in the past year has opened my brain to concentrate on screenwriting, to which I am a novice.
So, the library card, from my creative perspective, allows me to see stories or character types I might not think to include. I'm also ready to enjoy reading more often.
From a history perspective, reading about my country Canada's Indigenous perspectives helps me to be a better treaty partner by learning more about their experiences.
The library closest to me is small and doesn't have many graphic novels, but I found a couple that interested me. One is The Handmaid's Tale. Having read the book and watched the series, it's cool to see how the story plays out in a graphic novel. The other graphic novel I found is This Place: 150 Years Retold, which is a collection of Indigenous viewpoints since Confederation.
I'm embarrassed to say that these are my first graphic novels. I read Archie comics when I was a kid, whether that counts or not.
What are some graphic novels that you loved or recommend I put on my radar. I kind of think I'm going to be hooked after these two.
