Sci-fi is such an exciting genre because it gives you the chance to dream big. You get to create bold ideas, breathtaking worlds, and unforgettable characters that can truly inspire people! Right now, producers are hungry for fresh stories that feel both epic and emotionally urgent, which means this is the perfect time for you to bring your vision forward. The trick is not just having a great idea but knowing how to shape it into a script that feels production-ready and makes decision-makers want to get behind it. That is exactly what this Stage 32 webinar is designed to help you take your most daring sci-fi concepts and turn them into scripts that producers and audiences cannot wait to see!

The truth is, even the most talented sci-fi writers can run into hurdles. Maybe you have found yourself getting stuck in tech jargon, adding too much explanation, or building mysteries that don’t fully pay off. Or maybe your idea felt so big it seemed impossible to make on screen. You are not alone in that. These are common challenges, and the good news is they can all be fixed. In this webinar, you will get a development executive’s perspective on how to balance big ideas with grounded characters, cinematic storytelling, and practical production choices so your script shines for all the right reasons.

Your host Allison Margaret Reid is a producer, and development executive. Allison served as the Director of Development on the film side of Ridley Scott’s production company, Scott Free, where she was involved in films like THE MARTIAN, BLADE RUNNER 2049, and ALIEN: COVENANT. She is the Associate Producer of the independent film, JUNGLELAND, starring Charlie Hunnam, which premiered at Toronto International Film Festival.

You will walk away from this interactive Stage 32 webinar with a clear understanding of the essential building blocks of a successful sci-fi screenplay, from developing one bold, marketable idea to building plausible worlds and crafting characters that actors will want to play. You will gain tools to assess whether your idea is better suited for film, TV, or another format, learn how producers evaluate pages for feasibility, and discover how to make your script stand out in a crowded market. By the end of the session, you will have a clear path to writing sci-fi that excites decision-makers and audiences alike.
