Summary

In 90 minutes, learn exactly how to find, apply for, and maximize global tax incentives — from the EVP who has closed financing on over 100 independent films.

PLEASE NOTE: This exclusive Stage 32 webinar is now available to watch on-demand and no longer live.

Viviana Zarragoitia has been directly involved in financing over 100 independent films. She works with producers like Cassian Elwes, James Schamus, and Nicolas Chartier. She closes the financing on every single project Three Point Capital touches.

She built this webinar to give independent filmmakers the exact knowledge her firm expects producers to walk in with — and almost none of them do.

Every year, governments around the world write checks to film productions. Real money. Significant money. In some territories, 30, 40, even 50 cents back on every dollar you spend.

Most independent filmmakers know this exists. Almost none of them know how to access it properly — and the ones who get it wrong don't just miss out. They delay their productions, blow their finance plans, and sometimes lose deals entirely over paperwork that could have been handled correctly from the start.

Tax incentives are no longer optional. In today's market, every serious production needs them as a core component of the finance plan — not an afterthought, not something you hand off to a CPA and hope for the best.

This webinar is the education your production needs before you take a single meeting with a financier.

What This Webinar Does For You

By the time it ends, you will know:

  • Which territories are offering the most competitive incentives right now — and which headline percentages are misleading
  • How to choose the right jurisdiction for your project based on budget, genre, and production needs
  • The difference between co-productions and production services deals — and which structure works in your favor
  • What financiers actually look for when evaluating a tax incentive as part of a finance plan
  • How to build the right team around your incentive claim — and what each member is actually responsible for
  • The most common mistakes producers make in the application process and how to avoid every one of them
  • How to manage the incentive process from first application through final government payout

PLUS: You'll receive a sample tax credit application for a real jurisdiction — the actual document, so you know exactly what you're walking into.

Most people who teach film finance talk about it. Viviana Zarragoitia does it — every day, on real deals, with real money.

As Executive Vice President of Three Point Capital, one of the film industry's premier boutique lending firms, Viviana closes the financing on every project the company supports. She has been directly involved in financing over 100 independent films and works alongside some of the most respected producers in independent cinema — including Cassian Elwes, Rob Barnum, Anthony Bregman, James Schamus, Aaron Gilbert, Kimberly Steward, Nicolas Chartier, and Kevin Frakes.

Her background is uniquely comprehensive. She began in production accounting at Millennium Films and Bold Films — she understands what happens on the ground. She spent five years at Lionsgate in finance and profit participation, overseeing multi-million dollar distribution deals and managing royalty audits. Today at Three Point Capital, she oversees financing operations across multiple regions and holds over a dozen Executive Producer credits on titles she has personally financed.

When Viviana tells you how tax incentives work, she's not summarizing a textbook. She's telling you what she does on Monday morning.

"A wealth of knowledge I'll keep coming back to." "Viviana was personable, professional, and a wealth of useful information. She painted pictures and delivered facts, outlining the paths she has seen successful producers take — while still encouraging everyone to pursue their art with a greater understanding of the business and its challenges." — Randy G., Producer
